William P. Boone

Founder & CEO

Bill received his B.B.A. and J. D. from University of TX at Austin . He began his career as a CPA for Ernst & Ernst and after attending law school practiced as a tax attorney for McGinnis, Lochridge and Kilgore. He is a 25 year veteran of the foodservice and restaurant industry. In 1977 he became President of Frostex Foods, an Austin based full line foodservice distributor. During Mr. Boone's tenure at Frostex he successfully grew the company from $10 to $120 million in annual sales. Frostex Foods was sold to Kraft in 1987 and Mr. Boone served as COO for the Kraft/Frostex Foodservice subsidiary. In 1990, Mr. Boone founded Foodservice Management Systems for the purpose of serving the restaurant industry with operations management and financial services. The company has grown into a full-service restaurant management and financial services provider serving multiple restaurant concepts and managing sales in excess of $30 Million annually. Mr. Boone has been a member of numerous professional organizations and has served on numerous boards, including the Austin Chamber of Commerce.

Nick Moore


Nick obtained his B.B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin in 1971 after attending two years in the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. He joined Mr. Gattis in 1974 as a Location Manager. Within the same year he became District Supervisor for Mr. Gatti's Inc. and from 1976 until 1978 Mr. Moore was Director of Operations for the expansion of Mr. Gatti's in Corpus Christi, TX. In 1978, he formed his own company, Valley Restaurants, and expanded Mr. Gatti's in the McAllen, Harlingen, Lower Rio Grande Valley area of Texas. In 1997 he sold these stores to a large Mr. Gattis franchisee and joined FMS as Director of Operations. He was subsequently promoted to Vice President of Operations and in January of 2010, became President and Chief Operating Officer of Foodservice Management Systems.

Jenny Boone-Sappington

Chief Financial Officer

Jenny holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Richmond and a Masters in Accounting from the University of Texas. She began her career in 2000 with KPMG LLP. Jenny was a member of the Audit and Risk Advisory Services department for five and a half years and mainly worked on audits of non-public companies. In 2006, she joined the FMS team as Controller and was instrumental in the growth of the Accounting and Financial Services department recruiting new outside clients. In 2008, Jenny was promoted to Vice-President and Controller of FMS.

April Smith

Vice President, Marketing

April received her B.A. in Communications and Advertising from Loyola University. She brings 15 years of marketing and advertising experience to the FMS team. April's career has taken her from New Orleans to Houston to Austin where she has worked for various companies, both agency and client side. Her diverse portfolio includes work with clients from numerous fields including oil and gas, healthcare, automotive, tourism and restaurants. April joined FMS in 2001 to become the Director of Marketing and Communications.

Derek Herweck

Vice President of Operations

After attending college at UT San Antonio, Derek began his career in the restaurant industry with Café Lite in San Antonio. With absentee owners, Derek oversaw all aspects of the new market development and spearheaded expansion by opening three new locations as District Supervisor. In 1994, Derek moved to McAllen to become Manager of a Mr. Gattis family entertainment center and soon became District Manager of the Valley-wide franchise. Derek joined FMS and returned to San Antonio to become District Manager and oversee new store openings in San Antonio, College Station, and Corpus Christi. Derek was promoted in 2008 to VP of Operations of FMS.
